This best describes the notion Al Hinson has that every piece of wood chosen for his studio is destined to find the person for which he builds, and he is merely the conduit. For the most part, Hinson lets all of his trees come to him. Some are donated by people who know his ability to salvage a beautiful tree, some are found or brought to him in natural ways such as storms; but all of them have a story, and he would say it only begins with him. Each time a tree arrives, he knows it is only a matter of time before the owner finds their way to him and so begins the production of an original piece which that tree was destined to become.
